BMMA Announces Winners of 2014 Best in Class Awards

MTS awarded Provider Award; Actiontec awarded Vendor Award; at recent BMMA Annual Meeting held in Scottsdale, AZ.

May 7, 2014. Gulfport, MS (PRWEB) – The Broadband Multimedia Marketing Association (BMMA) recently announced the winners of the 2014 Best in Class Marketing awards.

“Each year the BMMA ( recognizes teams and companies that demonstrate innovation or excellence in marketing broadband services,’’ said Ellis Hill, President of ResearchFirst, Inc., the BMMA’s management firm. This year’s awards went to a service provider, MTS Allstream, and a vendor company, Actiontec, both of which executed best in class marketing practices related to broadband products and services.”

The winners are:

1] MTS ( ): “MyRemote”

MyRemote is a presentation framework application for the Mediaroom IPTV platform, which allows a TV customer to customize certain buttons on their remote control to perform different functions that greatly enhance the TV experience, especially for those with disabilities.

Originally announced in 2011, MTS revised and re-launched the MyRemote service in June of 2013 to include a number of new features that have further enhanced the application and increased customer use of the app.

One of the main drivers to enhance and offer this service to our customers was the need to provide a simple way for users to find and toggle on/off accessibility features like Described Video Service (DVS) and Closed Captioning (CC). These functions are normally buried deep within the settings menu, and are not easy to turn on or off, especially DVS, which is used by the visually impaired. The best solution was to allow the end‐user to program the remote control buttons themselves.

Remote Control Customizer is a client side application that resides on the Set Top Box and is configurable on an individual set top box basis, so every set top box can be customized with a different combination of functions by the end‐user.

2] Actiontec ( Whole Home Wireless Portfolio Campaign

Actiontec’s Whole Home Wireless portfolio targets any home broadband subscriber. With everything from smartphones to kitchen appliances now able to access the Wi-Fi network, maintaining a solid wireless connection at home is more important than ever. Homeowners are expecting to use their favorite devices in any and every room in the house. And today’s video, gaming, and media applications rely on home wireless networks to deliver immersive, multiscreen experiences to devices throughout the home.

The new product launched as part of Whole Home Wireless is the WCB3000 MoCA-based network extender. However, instead of simply marketing this as a single product, Actiontec chose to emphasize the overall concept of Whole Home Wireless. After all, the goal of the WCB3000 is to extend the home wireless network to areas of the home that previously didn’t have a strong wireless signal or a signal at all.

Along with the WCB3000, Actiontec launched a free companion app for Android and iOS (Apple) devices. This easy to use app lets consumers quickly check the wireless signal in any area of the home, and identify any dead spots. This lets them know exactly where they need to install a WCB3000 extender to get the best coverage in their home.
